This privacy policy explains how Michael E. Wills (“I”, “me”, “my”) collects and uses your personal information when you visit michaelwills.eu or join my readers’ club. I take your privacy seriously and will only use your information as set out below.

The information I collect
When you sign up to my readers’ club, I collect your first name and email address. That’s all I ask for.
When you browse the website, some information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies, such as your IP address, browser type, and how you use the site. This includes analytics and a Meta (Facebook) pixel, which helps me understand how people find and use the site.
How I collect it
I collect your name and email only when you enter them into a sign-up form on the website or in a pop-up. Website usage information is collected automatically through cookies while you browse.
How I use your information
I use your name and email address to:
- send you your free book
- send you occasional emails about my books, new releases, and the history behind my stories
- personalise those emails (for example, greeting you by your first name)
I use website usage information to understand how the site is performing and to reach readers who might enjoy my books.
My lawful basis for using it
I send marketing emails on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign up and confirm your email address. You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing (see below). Website analytics and advertising cookies are used on the basis of your consent where required.
Who I share it with
I don’t sell your information, and I never share it for anyone else’s marketing. I do use trusted third parties to run the website and email list, who process your information on my behalf:
- MailerLite, which manages my email list and sends my emails.
- Meta (Facebook), through the pixel on my website, for measurement and advertising.
- My website hosting provider, which stores the site and its data.
These providers may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area. Where they do, they are covered by appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to keep your information protected.
Cookies
My website uses cookies, including analytics cookies and a Meta (Facebook) pixel. Cookies are small files stored on your device. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
How long I keep your information
I keep your name and email for as long as you’re subscribed to my readers’ club. If you unsubscribe, your details are removed from my active mailing list. Website usage data is retained only as long as needed for analytics and advertising purposes.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that’s wrong
- ask me to delete your information
- object to, or ask me to restrict, how I use it

How to unsubscribe
Every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you’ll be removed straight away, no questions asked. You can also email me and I’ll take care of it.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please get in touch so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I’ll change the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
